City National Bank
1) City National Bank - glass bridge
Challenge
the 2 glass walls that will carry the glass floor got delayed and arrived only 1 week before the opening of the bank.
At this point, it is imperative to install the bridge without any breakage.
But the entrance of the bank is already installed and smaller than each of those 2 glass walls.
Solution
Instead of using a rolling dolly, which uses too much space, protect the floor with plywood and slide the glass on it, diagonally.
Protect the glass, protect the stone wall, protect the steps.
Construction of a public branch for this commercial bank in midtown Manhattan, with a public stair spanning from 1st to 2nd floor.
2) City National Bank - glass canopy
Challenge
This 17ft long and 3,700Lbs glass canopy spans from inside the building to outside the building.
The glass simply sits by gravity on top of 2 door portals.
The installation requires to rig this glass above the 2 portals, but the space is very limited.
Solution
Prior to the day of the installation, weld a temporary rail in the ceiling above the 2 portals. Set a trolley on that rail.
With succion cups, rig the glass from the interior of the building.
Then roll the trolley towards mid-span, and drop the glass in its final position.
